Playa del Carmen is a coastal resort in Mexico that is located along the Caribbean coast of the Riviera Maya, in the Yucatan Peninsula. It belongs to the state of Quintana Roo and is famous for its beaches lined with palm trees and coral reefs. The pedestrianized Fifth Avenue runs parallel to the beach, with blocks of shops, restaurants, and nightclubs ranging from laid-back bars to dance clubs.
